Lorraine Huneke-Bowans

I have a passion for ageless living and living your best, safest and most comfortable life. My interest in ageless living started when I was helping my parents as they developed health and mobility issues. I started researching for information and products to help them and things took off from there. I helped move my parents from a farm to a 2 bedroom and then to a 1 bedroom, so that gave me the understanding of what it is like to go through decades of your belongings. My husband and I moved in 2017 after living in our home for 30 years. I have had multiple careers in my lifetime and retired from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2015. I then became a Realtor and earned my SRES designation (Senior Real Estate Specialist). I earned my CSA (Certified Senior Advisor) and am a member of the Society of Senior Advisors. I am member of The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association where I earned my CAPS designation (Certified Aging in Place Specialist). I have also earned my designation as a CLIPP (Certified Living in Place Professional) through the Living in Place Institute.
We have lived in the Iowa City area for over 40 years. I have always been an active volunteer and have worked for many organizations. I am on the board for Johnson County Livable Community for Successful Aging, and member of the Housing Action Team, State AARP presenter for Fraud Watch and HomeFit, volunteer for TRAIL of Johnson County, volunteer for RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), member of the Johnson and Linn County Elderly Consortiums and member of the Iowa City Neighborhood Council.
I know the retirement communities, independent living communities, assisted living communities, continuing care retirement communities, memory care communities, nursing homes, home health care, senior apartments, and skilled nursing facilities in a 5 County area. I can help you find the resources you need and help answer questions when you need services. I can tour communities with you if you want to move. I can even help you buy or sell a home. I serve Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Ely, Fairfax, Hiawatha, Hills, Iowa City, Marion, North Liberty, Robins, Swisher, Tiffin, Toddville, West Liberty, Lone Tree, Amana, Washington, Solon, Tipton, West Branch, and a few other towns. I can help throughout the state to help find who to call for services.
