I have been working in healthcare since 1987 and have become a recognized advocate for the rights of seniors in our community. As the owner of Home Attendant Care, I have had the opportunity to serve as the past president of Elder Service Providers and the Alzheimer Society of WA as well as being a founding member of the WA Private Duty Assoc. One of my proudest accomplishments was being the founder of a program now known as “Touch of Grace”. To develop this program I brought together experts and educators from UW, WWU, Peach Health, Hospice, Palliative Care and administrators and advisors serving LTC facilities. The program is designed to improve the quality of care in nursing homes as individuals near end of life. I am proud to be of service to seniors and, to that end, also teach classes thru WCC, WWU and Skagit Valley Hospital to educate the community regarding services available to seniors, how to access these services and what funding sources are available to help cover the costs.
