Carrie Schluter
Carrie Schluter is an independent patient advocate, working in-person with clients in New England and virtually with clients across the country. Her specialties include health advocacy and care planning for elderly clients and advocacy for college students with chronic health conditions. She is particularly skilled at care navigation and coordination, appointment accompaniment and preparation, and research of diagnoses and treatment options to support clients and their families with decision-making.
Carrie Schluter is a Board-Certified Patient Advocate specializing in advocating for clients of all ages who are managing chronic conditions. She spent her early career in environmental communications for organizations including National Geographic, the Jane Goodall Institute, and the National Wildlife Federation. When a series of family health crises revealed how challenging -- and downright perilous -- it can be for patients to navigate the healthcare system, particularly during crises, Carrie discovered the impact she could have by using her communication skills as an advocate. With a heart for service and a mind for strategy, she pivoted to patient advocacy as a second career. Carrie is motivated by the conviction that all patients deserve to be heard. She also volunteers as a Special Education Surrogate Parent for the state of Massachusetts.
